When I’m here I miss my country and wish that I was there. When I go there I notice that things and people have changed, it is not the place I left any more, and I wish to return back to my new home. I’m being pulled apart, one foot with my family, the other back home.
Kun olen täällä, ikävöin kotimaatani ja toivon pääseväni sinne, mutta kun olen synnyinsijoillani, tunnen, että asiat ja ihmiset ovat muuttuneet: paikka ei ole enää samanlainen kuin ennen. Ja sitten taas toivon pääseväni Suomeen. Olen ristiriitaisessa tilanteessa: toisaalta olen onnellinen perheeni kanssa, toisaalta haluaisin palata kotimaahani.
SCRIPT
I remember well the time 17 years ago when I got the answer from Sorbonne University in France that I had been accepted there for postgraduate studies. I talked to my family about it, but my decision was already made so there was no room for discussion. The only thing left for them to do was to help me collect money for the trip. I felt real joy and was very proud of myself: I did it, I was going to Europe and everything went fine.
As time went by I got disillusioned with the paradise I had come to, but by then I was already married with two children which made things more complicated. Now I would love to go back home but I can’t because of my family. When I’m here I miss my country and wish that I was there. Muistan hyvin, kun 17 vuotta sitten sain kirjeen Ranskassa sijaitsevasta Sorbonnen yliopistosta. Siinä sanottiin, että minut oli hyväksytty jatko-opiskelijaksi. Keskustelin asiasta perheeni kanssa, vaikka olinkin päätökseni jo tehnyt. Perheeni piti auttaa minua keräämään rahat matkaa varten. Olin todella iloinen ja ylpeä itsestäni: matkustaisin Eurooppaan ja kaikki menisi käsikirjoituksen mukaan.
Kun aika kului, haaveeni paratiisista haihtuivat, mutta olin tuolloin jo naimisissa ja minulla oli kaksi lasta, joten asiat olivat jo vähän monimutkaisempia. Haluaisin palata kotimaahani, mutta se ei ole mahdollista, koska minulla on täällä perhe. BIOGRAPHY
MOHAMED EL ABOUDI (b. 1961)
Mohamed is from Morocco and has lived in Finland since 2001. He graduated in Theatre Science from the University of Fez in Morocco and continued his education, among other places, in France, where he studied Theatre Science and graduated as a film director. Mohamed completed the Master of Film and Television examination in Australia.
In 2003 Mohamed worked as a trainee on the YLE TV1 Basaari programme. Since then, he has directed seven documentaries for Basaari and five short programmes for YLE’s morning TV Aamu-TV. He has also edited four documentaries for Basaari and made more than several short documentaries for the Mundo and Taru television series. He has also produced one project each for the YLE FST programmes Seportaget and Artur.
In spring 2005, Mohamed directed Unelma vs todellisuus, the Finnish episode of the EBU co-production Inside offside documentary series. In spring 2007, he will direct the Finnish episode of the EBU co-production City Folk series.
Mohamed on kotoisin Marokosta, ja Suomessa hän on asunut vuodesta 2001. Mohamed valmistui teatteritieteen kandidaatiksi Fesin yliopistosta, Marokosta. Sen jälkeen hän jatkoi opintojaan mm. Ranskassa, jossa hän opiskeli teatteritiedettä ja valmistui elokuvaohjaajaksi. Australiassa Mohamed suoritti Master of Film and Television -tutkinnon.
Vuoden 2003 Mohamed työskenteli YLE TV1:n Basaari-ohjelmasarjan toimituksessa työharjoittelijana. Sen jälkeen Mohamed on ohjannut seitsemän dokumenttia Basaariin ja viisi lyhyttä ohjelmaa YLEn Aamu-tv:lle. Lisäksi hän on leikannut Basaarille neljä dokumenttia ja tehnyt useita lyhytdokumentteja Mundo- ja Taru-tv-sarjoihin. YLE FST:n ohjelmiin Seportaget ja Artur hän on tehnyt kumpaankin yhden projektin.
Keväällä 2005 Mohamed ohjasi EBU-yhteistyönä tuotettuun Pois paitsiosta -dokumenttisarjaan Suomen jakson Unelma vs. todellisuus, ja keväällä 2007 hän ohjaa Suomen jakson EBU-yhteistyönä tuotettuun City Folk -sarjaan.
