Robot vacuums help keep your home cleaner, but for those of us with pets, sometimes we need something specifically made for unique pet messes. The Trifo Lucy Ultra Robot Vacuum is made specifically for pet owners. From avoiding pet accidents to powerful suction and mopping, it could be the solution to spending less time cleaning up hair and dirt and more time snuggling and playing with your furbaby. I recently had the pleasure of testing Lucy to see how well it works.

Overview of Features

Straight out of the box, the Trifo Lucy Ultra Robot Vacuum is impressive. The feature set alone got me excited to see what this pet vacuum was capable of. To start with, the Lucy Ultra has powerful 4,000Pa suction and works well on all floor types. With up to a 120-minute run time, it’s able to tackle multiple rooms easily before returning to charge.

A 2-in-1 dustbin (252 ml) and water tank (366 ml) can not only suck up dirt and hair, but can mop away muddy footprints with ease. Interchangeable mop pads means you’ll always have a clean one available.

The vacuum comes with two interchangeable extractors: a brush and pet hair extractor. With the latter, you’ll never have to worry about tangled pet hair in the brush again.

Naturally, you may want to freshen your home, too, to get rid of smelly pet odors. A built-in air freshener makes your home smell great while the vacuum makes quick work of hair and dander. Plus, there’s a laser pointer attachment to keep your pets happy.

Wish you could easily keep an eye on your pets while you’re away? The Lucy Ultra also has a built-in 1080p HD camera. Check in to see what’s going on and even get motion alerts. Trifo values your privacy, so no images or videos are ever stored in the cloud, and you can opt not to use the camera if you prefer.

Pets have accidents. That’s just life. Whether it’s a random hairball or a poopie, Lucy will see it and avoid it. Advanced object detection and avoidance lets Lucy see objects as small as an inch and move around it. AI tech helps the vacuum recognize little accidents and avoid them. Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors ensure the vacuum doesn’t fall off stairs.

Finally, the vacuum creates detailed maps of your home for the most effective and efficient cleaning paths. Naturally, you’re also able to check out these maps and set schedules and areas via the Trifo app.

In the Box

The Trifo Lucy Ultra robot vacuum includes:

  • The vacuum
  • Filter
  • Pet hair extractor (the brush roller is installed by default)
  • Charger and base
  • Mop attachment with three reusable mopping pads
  • Laser pointer
  • Three air freshener sticks

There is no remote. You can only operate the vacuum via the app or your voice with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant (once you’ve set it up within the app).

For the most part, the vacuum is ready to use straight out of the box. Since it can mop and vacuum at the same time, you’ll need to snap the mop attachment in place under the vacuum, which is incredibly easy to do, then align a mop pad with the attachment and press firmly into place.

For the air freshening feature, simply add one of the freshening sticks inside the laser pointer. Open the battery compartment to find a slot for the stick. The laser pointer attaches to the side of the vacuum using a 3M strip. Easily remove the laser pointer at any time to play with your pets.

Getting Set Up

The first step is to find an open area against a wall for the charging base. Any excess cord can stay inside the charging base to keep it off the floor and away from curious pets. Next, download the Trifo Home app.

Trifo Lucy Ultra Robot Vacuum Review App

Unlike many smart home products, the Trifo Lucy Ultra robot vacuum connects easily on both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz networks. The app steps you through the process and only took about three minutes to complete.

I did have to wait for two software updates to download before I could start controlling Lucy with the app. The first one took a while to complete, so if you have an update, just be patient. The second one only took around five minutes, which is much better than the half hour the first one took.

Finally, it was time to let the vacuum start mapping. I’ll admit that I’m not the most patient person, but it took over 10 minutes to map a medium-sized living room, which did seem like a lot. However, it was a detailed map. I just wish it would’ve moved on to the attached kitchen (no door in the way) and mapped it as well versus having to manually move the vacuum into the kitchen via the app, then letting it map.

Once my maps were created, I was finally ready to see just how well this vacuum performed.

Using the Trifo Lucy Ultra

The app is incredibly straightforward. If you don’t want to mop at any point, make sure you turn the water level to off, or you’ll get constant warnings to attach the mop pad.

I tested each suction level. The two highest settings seemed to work best for pulling out the most cat hair from rugs. The highest setting isn’t overly loud, but you’ll need to turn the TV up just a little if you’re cleaning while watching TV.

I can’t fault the suction power at all. Even the mopping was wonderful and didn’t leave any streaks behind. I discovered the medium water level setting was just right for my floors. However, despite the great performance, there were a few issues.

First, the vacuum doesn’t always do well with rugs. All of my rugs have rubber slip-proof backs and rarely fold up even when you trip on them. But the vacuum rolled them up frequently. It was able to get itself off of them rugs without help though.

Filled in area was all that completed during the first run.

The other problem is sometimes the vacuum doesn’t complete a room before cheerily announcing “my chores are done.” Only a third of my living room completed during the first vacuum. The second round did much better but missed the edges around the couch and love seat. The same thing happened in other rooms.

During subsequent cleanings, it did the entire room, though it still missed some edges. Also, it takes around five to eight minutes for the vacuum to return to the charging base, which was only a few feet away at the time.

As far as obstacle avoidance, it did great outside of bumping into my cat during the mapping process. I tossed toys in the floor and left shoes in the way. THere were no issues at all. Also, scheduling and zones work perfectly.

Finally, the camera feature is works wonderfully. Whether it was light or dark, I could check in at any time to see what was going on. This was a fun feature that also doubles as a security camera.

Final Thoughts

Trifo Lucy Ultra Robot Vacuum Review Final

Overall, the Trifo Lucy Ultra performed quite well. It had some highs and lows, though. The areas it did vacuum and mop looked great, but it does miss areas sometimes. It also wasn’t the most rug-friendly vacuum.

If you want a vacuum that plays well with pets, this is a winner. It won’t suck up their toys or little accidents, and you can even use the app to see how they’re doing while you’re away.

You can pick up the Trifo Lucy Ultra for your own home and get 10% off by using the code EXTRA10, leaving you to pay just $359.99.
