Whether you are a busy professional, an avid member of the remote workforce, or simply looking to take control of your overflowing email inbox, eM Client is the perfect all-in-one solution that is zero-stress from the first click. I had the opportunity to test eM Client on my Mac, leveraging its robust platform tools to enable new levels of customization, convenience, security, and productivity. To say I was impressed would be an understatement, and I believe I have found the perfect email client to balance my personal and professional life.

eM Client at a Glance

eM Client for macOS and Windows enables you to capably manage millions of email messages from your computer with ease. It combines powerful enterprise tools, including granular search options, tracking prevention, built-in language translation, and seamless integration with flagship services, making each feature approachable and effortlessly customizable. You’ll feel in control of your inbox and your personal data with eM Client, and the experience will be tailored to you. Integration with services, including online meeting services, such as Zoom, enables you to join meetings with one-click access.

The moment I opened eM Client for the first time, I was immediately presented with a theme selection window that allowed me to personalize the appearance of the app before I began the rest of the setup process. There’s even an online theme gallery, where users can import and install custom themes created by other users in the eM Client community.

Beyond themes, eM Client generously breaks the activation process into three distinct stages, making setup more manageable and transparent:

  1. Account Details: sign in with your email credentials. Automatically sync mail, chat, calendar, and contacts.
  2. Encryption: optionally create or import a Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) keychain for enhanced encryption-based security.
  3. Finish: verify account avatar, enabled services, and syncing options.
Emclient Setup Steps

The setup is frictionless and straightforward, leaving no room for you to wonder just how many setup windows are left. I signed in with my Gmail account and was up and running within minutes. The eM Client synced my contacts and calendar events as promised. The calendar view adopted the dark theme that I chose during setup, giving me a snapshot of my day, week, and month. I can even narrow my focus with one-click access to a dedicated “Work Week” view.

This syncing integration is also compatible with Microsoft account services that include Office 365, Outlook, and Exchange, as well as services from other organizations. The app can also import data from other popular clients, like Thunderbird and Incredimail.

Blazing Fast: Online and Offline

Managing email with eM Client is noticeably fast and responsive compared to other email clients that I have used, including the Mail app built into macOS. If you happen to join a Wi-Fi network or digital hotspot with data limits and want to conserve bandwidth, the eM Client features “Offline Mode” to manage contacts, emails, and calendar events without connecting to the Internet.

Without constant refreshes, reloads, and fetching taking place, managing my email felt “refreshingly” snappy (pun intended). From a productivity standpoint, it makes it easier to manage one email at a time, without multiple emails constantly flooding your inbox. “Offline Mode” can also be used to delete emails that your email server fails to send because they are too large.

Superior Search Tools

I know that I am not the only one with a constant flow of email always crowding my inbox. Between work, personal, and junk mail, finding the content that’s important to me can be cumbersome and time-consuming with other email clients. eM Client saves the day with a feature called “Advanced Search,” enabling me to search for the precise content I’m looking for in seconds, using the following parameters, including but not limited to:

  • Keywords
  • Sender
  • Recipient(s)
  • Subject Line
  • Attachments
  • Send Date

Under the “Choose fields” option, even more search parameters are revealed. Here’s a closer look:

Next-Level Security With Tracking Prevention

eM Client utilizes secure connections, including support for TLS 1.2 and 1.3 when connecting to mail services, achieving partial end-to-end encryption (E2EE), only if you opt to set up and activate the optional PGP keypairs. PGP is an encryption program that uses a combination of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography to encrypt data. This ensures that sign-in keys for each user session can only be decrypted by the recipient using their private key.

Emclient Privacy

eM Client truly values user privacy with support for security standards, such as OAuth authorization, including Microsoft OAuth, Google OAuth, Yahoo OAuth, and more. Passwords will be stored in the database on your computer, but they will be encrypted, offering enhanced protection. eM Client even automatically disables tracking from senders who log read receipts, harvest your IP address, gather information about your location, obtain device usage analytics, and more.

Transformative Translation

When you are connected to the Internet, automatic language translation automatically detects that an email contains a language different from your default system language. You can press the “translate message now” or “translate message never” button to enable or disable translation with a single click.

Language translation happens faster than you can blink an eye, and the “never” option is helpful for languages you may already understand. With support for 21 languages in total, eM Client remains diversely accessible. The list of supported languages for system elements and automatic translation includes English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Russian, and many more.

eM Client for iPhone and Android Beta

Mobile versions of eM Client for iOS and Android devices are actively in development and currently available via public beta preview, with an official public launch coming soon. The mobile versions of eM Client are just as robust as their desktop counterpart, retaining the same codebase, which ensures full-featured app updates across platforms, seamless high-speed syncing, and immediate support for all mail services, including distinct protocols.

The mobile user interface remains familiar and intuitive, especially for those coming from eM Client for desktop. Setup and account activation is fast and stress-free, as, in addition to all of your accounts, you can also import signatures, templates, quick texts, PGP and S/MIME certificates, and more.

Unlike other mobile email apps, eM Client for mobile packs tons of desktop-class features into one easy-to-use handheld interface, meaning you won’t need to wait until you’re back at your desk to get real work done from your inbox. Best of all, the public beta preview of eM Client for iOS and Android is free and requires no license to activate.

System Requirements

The iPhone and Android versions of eM Client will be available soon, but the app is currently available for Mac and PC on desktops and laptops running the following platforms:

  • macOS: OS X 10.11 and later (supports Intel and Apple silicon Mac models)
  • Windows: Windows 7 or later
  • iOS: Public Preview Beta – Coming Soon
  • Android: Public Preview Beta – Coming Soon

I enjoyed using eM Client so much that I cannot help but look forward to the iPhone version of the app. I would love to take the eM Client experience along with me wherever I go.

Services Integration

The list of services supported by eM Client is vast. It includes support for personal and enterprise services, such as Google Workspace (Gmail), Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, iCloud, Dropbox, Google Cloud, Zoom, and Google Meet, just to name a few.

Availability

eM Client offers unique versatility, tried-and-true security solutions, and innovative mail management tools to support a myriad of workflows, no matter your lifestyle. A quick look at eM Client’s pricing page showcases three cost-effective licensing options:

  1. eM Client Free version for individuals (two-email account limit)
  2. eM Client Pro for individuals: $59.95 per device (one-time payment) or $129.95 (one-time payment) per device with Lifetime Upgrades
  3. eM Client Business Pro for companies: $248.95 for 10 devices (one-time payment) or $570.95 for 10 devices (one-time payment) with Lifetime Upgrades

In my experience testing the eM Client Pro tier for individuals, eM Client delivers value far beyond its cost. Put into perspective, you get a personalized all-in-one email experience, without the need to pay for external subscriptions offering access to passkeys, language translation, Web privacy extensions, and ad blockers, to name a few. eM Client has changed the way that I manage my email, making me more productive and efficient online and offline.
